To help you better navigate our site here are a few helpful hints and a little bit about ourselves.

Since 1994 California Academy has been part of the Los Angeles community, bringing beauty, grace, elegance and health through gymnastics and dance to kids through out California. Under the incredible direction of the world renown choreographer and coach Olga Ioda. Since then she has prepared 4 National Team members, 7 Junior Olympic Champions, 4 Continents and Commonwealth Games Champion in the United States alone. She has the titles of World Champion Rhythmic Coach and Honored Coach. (To learn more about Olga and California Academy's staff click on the About Us link and visit our staff section.) With over 30 years of experience and worldwide recognition in both dance and rhythmic gymnastics, in 2000 Olga created a new artistic direction GYMDANCE.

Gymdance is a hybrid, combining elements of both rhythmic gymnastics and dance. Anchored in Olga's experience in training and choreographing, including the choreography for the Opening Ceremony of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, many theatrical performances, and for some of the world's finest gymnasts.It combines the grace, coordination, flexibility, and beauty of rhythmic gymnastics with glitter and full of jazz, swing, modern, and ballet dance styles.

After taking gymdance numbers to some of the most prestigious US dance competition, such as "Showstopper Dance Championships" and receiving high acclaim and prizes, gymdance has become part of California Academy's main curriculum. Here's what some of the judges at the competition said about gymdance:

Gymdance has also become a base for California Academy's "Kids to Kids Theater". We currently have three full length shows, including The Nutcracker and The Genie's Magic Lamp,and numerous variety numbers with Ms. Ioda's choreography. Rhythmic gymnastics and ballet are used as a base for all of our students and in preparation for the shows. California Academy is proud and honored to offer your child programs for all ages and skills levels. Whether your child is a newcomer to the enjoyment of physical education, or ready for athletic and dance competition, California Academy has a program to suit your family. California Academy has 4 auditoriums. Our programs are designed to promote self-confidence and a positive attitude while stimulating and challenging your child's own development in a creative and happy atmosphere.
